Bubble Writing - Numbers

(1)
Bubble writing - cursive word bank Like many primary school teachers I have tried a variety of handwriting schemes with varying degrees of success. Having thought through many common problems with handwriting I have developed a simple scaffold that places a bubble either side of the line to support letter formation. This simple scaffold provides a guide to consistently form cursive letters and ensure each letter is uniform in both height and width. Children are able to leave equal spaces between words and see clearly whether or not there is enough space at the end of each line for the next word they intend to write. There has been a huge impact within my class in a very short space of time and I hope you will see similar benefits within your own setting. Included is a PowerPoint presentation including all numbers to a million in written form. It is suggested that this resource is used alongside the full pack for the relevant Key Stage available from my TES store.

Classifying Angles Color by Number

(0)
In this activity, students will classify angles (graphic and numerical representations) as obtuse, acute, straight, or right. Then, they will color a pattern according to their answers to reveal a beautiful, colorful mandala! This no-prep activity is an excellent resource for sub plans, enrichment/reinforcement, early finishers, and extra practice with some fun. It is especially useful for end-of-year practice, spiral review, and motivated practice when students are exhausted from standardized testing or mentally “checked out” before a long break (hello summer!). Color motivates even the most challenging students and the students get a fun chance to practice their essential geometry skills. In addition, the finished products make fabulous classroom decor!

Negative Numbers

This is an introductory lesson to integers less than zero, which leads on to rudimentary calculations and subtracting negative numbers. This often spreads over two lessons, I find, after a discussion on whether negative numbers actually exist and some number line activity in the classroom, showing students that subtracting negative numbers is akin to facing 'the negative direction&', but then having to walk backwards.
