New 2024 PSHE lesson all about ableism as well as visible and invisible disabilities and how people can be treated differently in work, school and public environments - sometimes breaking the Equality Act 2010.
Students will examine exactly what we mean by ableism, by exploring examples and case studies, with a focus on prejudice and discrimination. They will also establish the difference between purposeful ableism (e.g to save money in a workplace) and ableism from naivety. The lesson includes case studies, clip tasks, creative tasks, analysis and literacy tasks and much more. Created for KS3 but could be used as a reminder for KS4.
This lesson is taken from the new EC Publishing Complete PSHE Package which can be found at the EC Publishing website. Everything is editable and easy to pick up and run with and includes future DfE updates too.

21 hours of fully resourced lessons (some in double-lesson packs) focusing on social justice, what this is and what it means today in practice - from the classroom to the workplace. The packs also explore the fights and gains of marginalised groups, the progress that has been made in the UK towards inclusion, equality and diversity and the hurdles still to overcome. You don't need to know anything about this beforehand - all of the information on each subject topic is included in detailed information sheets which go with the PowerPoints and activities. All lesson packs are complete with a detailed PowerPoint, information booklets explaining each topic in detail, accompanying differentiated worksheets, clip links with questions, plenaries, clear LOs and starters. All are well differentiated to three levels throughout to enable clear evidence of progress for all students. Everything is editable.
