Content covered from 3.6.4 Homeostasis from the AQA A-Level Specification.

Can easily be adapted for other exam boards too.

  • Principles of homeostasis and negative feedback
  • Control of blood glucose concentration
  • Control of blood water potential

These in-depth topics are broken down across two PPTs - can be merged into one if preferred. The generic layout of the lesson is teaching content, followed by quick tasks, followed by exam application questions and mark schemes already on the PPT to allow self-assessment, then repeat.

There is also an essay task included - rather than the original 25 marks, the essay is assessed out of 19 marks focusing on subject content and written communication - an excellent opportunity for the students to gather their thoughts and apply their understanding of regulating water content. If preferred, this can be returned back to its original 25 mark essay by adding 3 marks for depth and 3 marks for breadth.

Revision task included too.

Ready to use - no adjustments required!
