New Resource looking at developing cooperation, teamwork, negotiation, compromise and forming an opinion. An adaption of the Balloon Debate but instead of students taking on roles, they are a committee choosing survivors. There are 2 or three stage to each scenario each one giving the students a little more information on the characters. I have created 4 scenarios: Lifeboat Super Volcano Eruption Zombie Outbreak Neutron Star I use a Charcoal peel off facemask to cover information on the character cards so information is drip fed to them rather than all at once.

Three booklet bundle for AQA A-Level Sociology - Family and Households unit. An independent study booklet is a way to structure students independent study by providing them with the following for each learning phase of the topic. Overview page with QR codes to resources, Key terms and Sociologists Core content notes grid of question and headings to support note taking. A consolidation activity Exam style question planning sheets. The summary notes book breaks down the unit into a Cornell style pages. It uses the core knowledge questions to focus the notes. This can be used to help take notes during class, as a consolidation or as a “create your own” revision guide. The exam technique books take students through how to answer the exam style questions. It provides worked through examples as well as practice questions to try.

This unit of work is focusing on helping students to start investigating career paths and choose their GCSE options. The first part is looking at the link between personality and career choice using the Holland Codes. It includes a Holland test and then the opportunity to research the career paths which the test indicates. The second part of the scheme looks at the GCSE option process and helping the students to develop decision making skills in terms of making the right choices for their GCSE's. It is based on the ideas in the Hectic Teacher’s guide to Independent Study The powerpoint is made up of mini videos so needs to be viewed in presentation mode to see the whole show.

This crib sheet takes students through what is expected for each of the question styles on the new GCSE Sociology exam. I give this out at the start of the year so they can use it when doing exam practice in class or at home. I also allow them to use it in the first couple of assessments and then phase it out. I print it on bright paper and laminate it so that it lasts the year, but could also be stuck in exercise books.
